Thank you for your interest in volunteering with Wishard Health Services. Now is an exciting time to become a part of our healthcare team.
Once you have submitted the application, a representative with Volunteer Services will contact you to schedule an appointment to begin the application process. The process consists of an informational interview, health screening, and orientation.
The informational interview will be conducted in the Volunteer Services office and will last about 30 minutes. The interview is designed to match personal interests with available opportunities and determine appropriate scheduling. During the interview we will also discuss scheduling your orientation and health screening.
The health screening, mandated by the State Board of Health, includes a blood draw, to check for immunity against highly communicable diseases such as measles, mumps, rubella, and chicken pox. Volunteers are required to complete a two-step tuberculosis screening. The health screening is provided to volunteers free of charge and must be completed prior to beginning your volunteer assignment.
The final step in the application process is the general hospital orientation. Volunteers will be provided a self-study orientation packet and completion quiz. All orientation documentation must be turned in to Volunteer Services prior to beginning the volunteer assignment. Volunteers are required to attend a 90-minute orientation, conducted in Volunteer Services. Please allot an additional 30 minutes to obtain a volunteer uniform and identification badge.
For questions regarding the application process or to set up an appointment, please contact Volunteer Services at 630-7552.
Thank you again for choosing Wishard Health Services.
